Instructions For getting a better Video Experience

  1. Make sure you have enough memory (RAM) to make buffer times(delays) short. Adding memory to your computer is often an inexpensive way to make your computer faster.   If you can get rid of a few things that you don't need, that will make your memory larger. Start by looking through the task manager and deleting anything that you don't want. Getting rid of any spyware can also free up memory.  The Lighthouse uses CCleaner and Spybot along with AVG virus software to keep our server clean.   These are free tools in which we have no financial interest or other interest in...we just use them cause they work.  With CCleaner...just install it and click on "Run Cleaner."  Do it a couple times.  It may also help to use the registry cleaner included.

  2. Close any unnecessary windows while the video is playing. If you're watching a video on Windows Media Player or a similar player, close your browser. Try to have as few programs running as possible when loading a streaming video. This is an easy solution that will immediately improve the buffering time.

  3. Get DSL, cable, satelite or an even faster connection. Dial-up Internet service is notoriously slow and can make the buffer times for streaming video much longer than they need to be. Video settings on the Lighthouse side are very low, as an attempt to improve the video on slow internet connections.
