Greetings beloved in the name of the King of Kings our Lord Jesus Christ,
Time 7:41 a.m. Thursday, June 23rd. Location, Holiday Inn Express, Chicago, Ill.
The blog title sums up what we have experienced the last few days. Hoping to be in the comforts of our home has beend wishful thinking as of late. We started off the trip last Monday 6: 00 a.m. (Dehli time) saying good buy to the El Shaddai Children's Home and taking pictures. From there we journeyed to the Guwahati airport and things other than a 40 minute delay went well to Dehli.
At Dehli we waited for about 6 hours until our departure at 12:30 a.m. Tuesday a.m. We boarded the plane and pretty much took off on time. A half hour into the trip we were informed that we were turning back due to a generator that was out. You need these to fly and these big birds have two, but cannot sustain very long on one.
We were informed how to brace for landing, where to exit and how to jump off the emergency slides. By the grace of God we didn't need to as the pilot landed safely and after the fire trucks came out and determoned it was safe. They then worked on the generator but to no avail. We eventually taxied to the airport and exited having to stay a night at Dehli.
The blessing was that it was a five star resort with A/C (praise God) and incredible food (tenderloin) all at AA expense. Needless to say we flew out at 7:00 p.m. that evening. This time the flight went well. Other than the fact our flight to Sioux Falls had to be rescheduled for the next day at 8:35 a.m.. At this point it was midnight, there were no hotels closer than an hour away and so we stayed at the airport (what a blur).
At about 6:30 a.m. we saw that out flight was canceled to Sioux Falls (because of all the problems bad weather in Chicago created). We waited for a stand by opportunity at 3:25 p.m. only to see that flight be canceled. From there we journeyed to the Holiday Inn Express and by 5:00 p.m. we were all out sleeping until about 3:30 a.m. Did I mention along with our wait of 13 hours at the airport Jesse became sick, threw up all over himself and the carpet (oh well at least half of it made it to the garbage).
This morning we had a wonderful breakfast, the kids ate huge, yes we did to and now we await a stand by flight at 3:25 p.m.. If we do not get on this one we are confirmed for 9:35 p.m. which if everything goes well we will be home Friday at 2:00 A.M. IN THE MORNING.
We are weary, delirously tired but God sustains us and has blessed us in incredible ways. i am trying to remind myself of giving thanks in every and all things and to do all things without grumbling and complaning. Needless to say, we all could say that we see areas of our life where we are not as sanctified as perhaps was thought.
Hope by the grace of God to see you soon.
